Our NetworkAt Red Tomato, we are all about creating a network of connections to bring more good food to more people. Connecting farmers to retail buyers, consumers to farmers, farmers to other farmers, farmers to scientists, produce buyers to consumers, our network to others around the country. Everything is connected. It really does take a strong, dedicated network to have a better tomato! Supporters: Red Tomato is a not-for-profit organization funded through grants and donations from a variety of supporters including foundations, state and federal government agencies, corporations and other like-minded organizations. We also receive considerable support from many individual donors. Scientists: Red Tomato depends on the research and knowledge of an exemplary network of scientists and experts. Some of them work for public land grant universities, others with private academic institutions or non-profit organizations, some are dedicated government agency employees, and some are farmers (whom we call our Professors.) Farmers: The relationships between Red Tomato and the farmers in our network are mutual partnerships based on getting to know each other over time and finding the right fit in terms of quality, production methods, and marketing strategies. Markets: Red Tomato products are sold by some of the best grocers in the Northeast. It takes retail and food service partners who understand the value of stewardship, quality and loyalty, and who are willing to make the extra effort needed to source, handle and offer fresh local produce.
