Compensation: $47,500–$50,000 annual salary, paid bi‑weekly, plus benefits

Position Overview

The Food Access Coordinator supports Red Tomato’s food access programs, distribution operations, and grower/customer relationships. This role manages weekly supply chain tasks, coordinates program logistics, and supports key accounts and partnerships—including those connected to the Henry P. Kendall Food Vision Prize. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, collaborative, and motivated by mission-driven work.

Primary Responsibilities

Supply Chain & Distribution Support

  • Support day‑to‑day food distribution operations, including customer communication and service.
  • Update and distribute weekly product availability lists.
  • Process sales and purchase orders in FreshByte; manage online order submissions.
  • Assist with allocations and inventory management.
  • Provide backup coverage for the food distribution team as needed.

Farmer, Collaboration & Partner Coordination

  • Maintain regular communication with farmers and processors; support pricing updates using the dignity deal model.
  • Help gather grower feedback and assist with resolving product quality or logistics issues.
  • Participate in regional networks such as the New England Food Hub & Processor Group and CT Aggregator Network.

Program & Partnership Coordination

  • Manage key food access and distribution accounts, including:
    • Bypass CT
    • Whitsons Farm-to-Institutional Sales Program
    • Other direct-to-retail, community sales, and procurement programs
  • Support the development of new accounts and partnerships.
  • Assist with projections, goals, and tracking for food access initiatives.
  • Coordinate components of the Henry P. Kendall Food Vision Prize grant (2025–2027).
  • Collaborate with the business development consultant.
  • Support Farm to School events (e.g., Apple Crunch, National Farm to School Month).
  • Assist with EcoCertified® trainings and occasional in-store demos.

Data, Reporting & Internal Coordination

  • Maintain updated SOPs for food access program operations.
  • Support reporting on product movement, account performance, and customer/grower feedback.
  • Participate in team planning to identify new opportunities and priorities.
  • Work with the marketing team to develop materials and resources for accounts.

Qualifications

  • Experience or strong interest in food distribution, supply chains, food hubs, or food access programs.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
  • Comfort with data entry, tracking, and basic analysis.
  • Familiarity with FreshByte or similar platforms (training available).
  • Commitment to supporting family farmers and strengthening regional food systems.
  • Ability to travel to farms and partner sites throughout the region.

Work Environment

This position is based in the Northeast with hybrid remote/in‑office work depending on location. Seasonal demands may require occasional early mornings or extended hours. Travel to farms, partner sites, and events is required.
