Red Tomato embodies thinking globally and acting locally by working across four key U.S. regions — the Northeast, Mid‑Atlantic, Southeast, and Midwest — as a non-asset-based food hub distributor and marketer alongside testing new approaches and developing critical thought leadership to inform, humanize, and redistribute value and sustainability throughout the food system.

Everything we do starts with the local farmers who partner with the Red Tomato food hub.

Red Tomato’s grower network includes orchards and vegetable farms across the Eastern and Central US, from Pennsylvania to Michigan. Some of our local farmers are new to their land and some have been working the land for generations.

All of our growers have one thing in common: a dedication to the land and great produce.

About Our Farmworkers

It takes many hands to grow, harvest, and pack the fruits and vegetables that feed our communities. Farm work is demanding — long hours, physical labor, and unpredictable weather are all part of the job.

Red Tomato and our growers are committed to fairness, safety, and transparency. That means supporting dignified, long-term livelihoods for both permanent and seasonal workers.

We’ve built labor safety into our EcoCertified standards, partnered with the Equitable Food Initiative, and are proud to share the stories of the people behind every harvest.

Read on for more of the faces and stories of farm labor in our network.
