CT Food 4 Thought

CT Food 4 Thought is a nonprofit organization based in Torrington, Connecticut, with a mission to provide healthy and locally grown food to the community while creating job opportunities for local residents. Their parent company, New Opportunities, Inc. is a community-based organization in Waterbury whose mission is to work with the most vulnerable in their communities to provide direct social service assistance programming while enacting community level change and empowering individuals to reach their maximum potential.

 They began planting their first seeds in December 2021 and have since been focused on producing high-quality, nutrient-dense food for their community. As a hydroponic farm, they use cutting-edge technology to grow fresh produce year-round in a controlled environment, ensuring that they are producing food in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner.

Their focus on providing living wage jobs and CEA job training sets them apart from other farms in the area. They believe that by offering their employees a living wage and the opportunity to receive job training, they are not only creating jobs but also supporting the local economy. Their produce goes to local grocery stores, schools, hospitals, and food security programs, allowing them to directly impact the health and well-being of those in their community.
