Since 1930, the Pell Family Farm started in dairy and has been producing farm-fresh goodness in Somers. Roger Pell’s inspiration comes from his own father, Edwin Sr. During the Great Depression, Edwin Sr. maintained 45 cows, more than most other farms in the area, and worked a nine-to-five at Hamilton Standard reconfiguring machines. His work ethic and dedication to the farm, has been the driving force behind Roger’s own values.
Roger is happy to see this drive and determination instilled in his daughter, Tracy. She grew up gardening with her mother and grandmother. After nine years of working as a special education teacher, she decided to work at the farm and earned her Master Gardener Certification, and Advanced Master Gardener certification through University of Connecticut. Tracy manages the farm alongside her father. Today, the farm focuses on strawberries, evergreen trees, shrubs and Christmas trees. Together, they provide produce that recreate childhood memories for their customers.
They firmly believe a crop is only as good as the care and effort that is put into it. They guarantee that the quality and freshness of their products shows how much they care about what they do.
