For the ham:
- 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (8–12 lbs)
- ½ cup water
For the apple glaze:
- 1 cup apple juice or apple cider
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground cloves (optional)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2-3 apples - peeled, cored, and sliced (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith work great)
Prep the ham
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Place ham cut-side down in a roasting pan.
Add ½ cup water and cover loosely with foil.
Bake 10–15 minutes per pound. (Example: 10 lb ham = 2–2½ hours)
Make the apple glaze
In a saucepan, combine apple cider, brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, cinnamon, cloves, and vinegar.
Simmer for 10–15 minutes until slightly thickened, then stir in butter.
Add apples and glaze
About 60–75 minutes before the ham is done, arrange sliced apples around the ham. Spoon some glaze over the apples.
Remove the foil 30–40 minutes before finishing, then brush the ham generously with glaze.
Continue baking uncovered, basting every 10–15 minutes.
Heat until ham reaches 140°F internal temp, apples should be soft and lightly caramelized.
Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.

Tips for the Best Easter Ham
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for balanced flavor
- Score the ham in a diamond pattern for better glaze coverage
- Don’t add apples too early, they’ll get too soft
- Baste frequently at the end for a glossy, caramelized finish
