Steere Orchard is a fourth generation family orchard started around 1930 by Arthur W. Steere with his son, Henry J. Steere. Today Jim Steere, grandson of the orchards founder, continues the tradition with his son, John. Steere Orchard is the largest orchard in Rhode Island and a community landmark in what locals call “Apple Valley”.
They joined the Red Tomato network as an apple grower in 2019, adding Rhode Island to our network of Northeast states. Steere Orchard does wholesale and Pick-Your-Own, with about a dozen varieties including Macoun, Cortland, Red & Golden Delicious, Macintosh and RI Greening. The Steere family also runs a small farmstand, offering peaches, pumpkins, gourds, corn, apple cider, jams and honey.
